Inspiration: The Cogs of Our World
Inspiration: the cogs of our world is a 4 minute-long animation paired with "The Unknown," a song by athlete. It explores the personification of inspiration as it travels through a college campus to help students find their spark.
Behind the Scenes
The Characters
THe characters in the film are all fictional people, however i did take inspiration from my classmates and college friends for their designs.
the muse's design was heavily inspired by the movie xanadu, a 1980 film that follows the romance that blooms between an artist and his muse. xanadu has been a lifelong source of inspiration of mine, and i wanted to reflect its impact on me though this project.
The environment
All the locations in the animation are on the university of maine's campus, my alma mater. Since the story's plot incorporates fantasy, it felt appropriate to ground the plot in a part of the real world.
The colors are cool and dark to encourage contrast between the darkness of lull and the brightness that inspiration brings to us; It brightens the light the muse shines.
